#Gender Based violence
Everywhere in the globe, women and girls are subjected to numerous forms of violence — including
symbolic, economic, institutional, and occupational violence in addition to the more well-known forms
of physical, mental, and sexual abuse — simply for being who they are: females. The health and quality
of life of millions of women around the world are severely impacted by this gender-related issue.
Gender-based violence is a significant cause of death in all age categories and nations, and it is the third most frequent cause of death in adolescents in high-income countries. The most extreme examples of aggression and dominance based on gender are femicide and rape, yet
these are merely the top of the iceberg. In order to uphold the current social order, women experience a continuum of violence that is used more frequently.
Violence in all its manifestations has a disproportionately negative effect on one's bodily and mental well-being, including mortality and morbidity, as well as long-term economic and social repercussions. Let's focus on two less-recognized forms of violence that are also a growing public health issue, despite the fact that violence against women and girls can take many different forms, including forced marriage, street harassment, cyber harassment unwanted sexual advances, female genital mutilation, intimate partner violence, family violence, etc. “At any given moment you have the power to say this is not how the story is going to end.” ― Christine Mason Miller.
Solutions to stop GBV
1. oppose the normalization of violence against women and children.
2. Against gender roles and stereotypes.
3. contest the acceptance of violence towards women and children.
4. rebuke jokes and comments about women that are sexist.
